Financial Education Classes
Our financial education courses and counseling sessions are designed to address disparities in savings and banking directly by changing student’s thinking and behavior around money.
Financial literacy is an essential and missing skill for most new immigrants to Maine, who often come from countries with cash-based economies and lack knowledge about the financial system in the United States. In our classes, we teach our students all about savings, budgeting, building a credit score, opening an account at a bank or credit union, how loans work, about different kinds of insurance and why they are needed or sometimes required, investments and how to save and pay for a car, house, or education.
Foundational education courses include Basic Money Management and Saving to Build Wealth.
