Immigrating to a new country can be an overwhelming experience. Many new immigrants to Maine come from cash-based economies and are unfamiliar with the complex American financial system. Without clear guidance and support, this community is significantly more vulnerable to financial scams, predatory loans, and discrimination in housing or employment due to cultural differences, racial prejudice and increasingly, lack of credit.

ProsperityME’s financial education, workforce development, and housing assistance programs are a proven, long-term solutions to these problems.

Financial Education Classes

Our financial education courses and counseling sessions are designed to address disparities in savings and banking directly by changing student’s thinking and behavior around money.

Housing Navigator

A home and financial stability go hand-in-hand

Individual Development Accounts

The IDA matched savings program provides ongoing 1:1 financial education, higher education coaching, small business mentorship and technical assistance. Participants will receive one dollar for every dollar they save towards the purchase of a productive asset up to $5000.

Peer Workforce Navigator

The Peer Workforce Navigator Project helps Mainers make connections to good jobs, education and training, unemployment insurance, and other public benefits so people can find economic security and achieve their goals.
