We are seeking a Director of Housing Initiatives, to explore, analyze and manage new affordable housing activities.
ProsperityME is starting a new area of business: Affordable Housing. We are seeking a Director of Housing Initiatives, to explore, analyze and manage new affordable housing activities. This position will lead the creation of new partnerships to develop, own and manage affordable housing. The Director of Housing Initiatives will represent ProsperityME in research and negotiations with partners and assist partners with the creation of new immigrant focused affordable housing developments.
Responsibilities of the Director of Housing Initiatives:
Lead ProsperityME’s efforts to select partners for development, property management,and financing.
Support development partner in efforts to secure financing, and monitor construction ofaffordable housing in the greater Portland area.
Work with development partner to select and deploy architects, contractors,accountants, surveyors, and attorneys to successfully manage project.
Monitor project progress against timeline and budget and address issues in a proactiveand timely manner.
Provide regular progress reports to Executive Director and Board of Directors.
With the development partner, participate in meetings with municipal officials, stateofficials, federal officials, and vendors during the housing development process.
Advocate as necessary to public officials to support housing development projects.
Assist with affordable housing advocacy efforts targeted to New Mainers.
Assist development partner with the identification of potential affordable housing sites.
Negotiate agreements with development partner and property management partner.
Monitor development progress, property management performance and portfolio performance.
Track and organize financing applications.
Develop affordable housing production plans and schedules.
Manage other affordable housing programs and projects as directed.
Requirements of the Director of Housing Initiatives:
Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree in related field preferred.
Demonstrated experience in the areas of affordable housing development or affordablehousing asset management or related area.
Experience working with Housing Finance Agencies.
Knowledge of affordable housing finance and regulations.
Experience managing complex projects.
Experience working with immigrant communities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including a comfort level andconfidence with public speaking.
Ability to manage the details of multiple deliverables and exercise good judgement inraising issues/concerns to the appropriate parties.
Ability to use Microsoft Excel for analysis and modeling of project-related financialinformation.
Must maintain a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel occasionally to project sites,meetings, etc.
Benefits of the Job:
Annual salary range of $75k to $90k
